Holy basil is one of the premier herbs of the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia. It is a major rasayana herb and a valuable nervine. Together with gotu kola, this tea is calming and gently detoxifying. It acts specifically on the brain and nervous system, but with the addition of lemongrass and ginger, this tea also aids digestion. The flavor is greatly enhanced by the zesty additions that have carminative properties. When formulating this tea, we knew what we had to do to create something superb! Try it warm a few hours before bedtime or on ice during summer days. Use the leftover as a hair rinse! All the ingredients of this tea are 100% organic.
The Internet has been abuzz with using tulsi to remove fluoride in water. The leaves can be placed in water for a minimum of 8 hours, preferably 24. The leaves are then removed and the water can be used. The water should be room temperature when placing the leaves into the water. Boiling the water with the leaves reduces the effectiveness when the purpose is fluoride removal from tap water.
The tea is suitable for adjunctive support of symptoms associated with fluoride-related health concerns. If you want to grow holy basil for use with water purification, we have the seeds!
